Winners in English

In line with the Competency Based Approach, Winners in English is developed to respond to the new curriculum for basic education. More than 70% of schools are found in the rural areas where the authors are convinced that children need to learn the art of speaking, reading, and writing to be able to conveniently study other subjects. To facilitate the learning of the four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing, drills on listening comprehension, dialogue, spelling, reading comprehension, pronunciation, dictionary use, grammar, and vocabulary have been carefully treated in all the units. This is done in strict conformity with the demands of Primary School Curriculum for the English subsystem. This has been done bearing in mind that children’s experiences at this age and time centre mostly around the eight integrated learning themes.
